Calumet
Calumet has been producing good 4x5 cameras since they acquired the rights to Kodak's Master View series of cameras in 1955. Since then they’ve taken that proven design and elaborated on it many times creating their own very well known line of 4x5 view cameras. The Calumet cameras have always been very popular with students and view camera classes in schools due to it’s low cost and relatively high quality.

What many people love most about the Calumet 4x5 view camera is that it’s relatively low price and still very acceptable quality makes large format photography a much more accessible option for many people, particularly young photographers just starting out. In fact, I learned on an old Calumet monorail back in my undergraduate days in art school. It was big, heavy and the controls were a bit clunky but at the end of the day it made some amazing photographs.
