Arca-Swiss

Arca-Swiss is a camera company known for it’s precision machining and exceptional design. The first view cameras from Arca-Swiss rolled out in the 1950s and were immediately recognized as being of the highest quality. The company’s cameras can basically be broken down into pre and and post 1984 models. Prior to 1984 Arca-Swiss view cameras came in three main categories - Model A (with axis tilts), Model B (with base tilts) and Model C which had both axis and base tilts. Ansel Adams actually owned and used one of these cameras during the latter part of his life and career. Post 1984 Arca-Swiss began producing it’s F-line and M-line.

F-line and M-line 4x5 view cameras were developed as a system by Arca-Swiss and as such contained completely interchangeable parts. This is a great thing for professional photographers looking to customize or upgrade their cameras for a particular job or project. As with other high end view cameras Arca-Swiss will not provide you with the least expensive option but if you want or need quality in your equipment you won’t go wrong with one of the 4x5s
