Ebony
Ebony. This is the high end Mercedes of large format photography. Ebony produces some of the most beautiful and functional 4x5 (and larger) view cameras in the world. The design elements of the camera are contributed by Hiromi Sakanashi, one of Japan's leading large-format photographers. These view cameras are very compact and light weight, so easily used in the field, but at the same time possess the capacity for movements that are usually only found on the best studio/monorail cameras. The wooden parts of the cameras are made of either twenty year old quarter sawn mahogany or ebony, depending on the model and the metal components can be had in titanium to further minimize weight. And finally the exceptional thin and supple bellows are formed from calf skin. These cameras are designed by professionals for very discerning professionals. When you absolutely, positively have to have the nicest 4x5 view camera on the block, Ebony is a safe bet.
